Wardrobe Planning Inspiration and Tips

The easy part is done.  You've registered for your Mother's Day Mini Session, you're looking forward to creating some amazing images, but now comes the not so easy task of coordinating a wardrobe that compliments the session theme for you, and the family.

Trust me, I completely understand how you feel, and I'm here to provide a few tips, color palette options, and hopefully a little inspiration, to get you started.

First things first, let's talk colors. This year's set is all decked out in dreamy colors like blush, olive green, pink, cream, and neutrals. So, when it comes to picking out your outfits, think soft, romantic, and cohesive. Need some inspo? Here are four fab color palettes to consider:

  1. Soft Neutrals: Dress the fam in shades of blush, and cream for a soft, ethereal vibe with some hints of mint green, and soft copper
  2. Earth Tone Elegance: Go for a sophisticated look with outfits in olive green and neutrals or earth tones.
  3. Pretty in Pink: Embrace the sweetness of Mother's Day with outfits in various shades of pink – from pastel to bold, with a little mauve and blush mixed in
  4. Looking for something more casual or more outside of the norm, I definitely think you could pull off jean dresses, white or pink tops, and jeans

Secondly let's talk prints versus solids.  There are a couple rules of thumb to keep in mind.  The first is to keep the print type minimal.  If the print is too busy it tends to draw the eye away from the gorgeous face and smiles in the images.  Prints that are easily recognizable, like flowers, stripes, or polka dots work well.  When determining what colors to wear, a great way to keep things cohesive is to keep the colors in the same color family ie, neutrals, earth tones, pastels, etc. Lastly when mixing solids and prints, I highly recommend sticking to one print type which helps keep everything coordinated.
